What is a Forex Scalping Strategy?

“Forex scalping” is a trading approach/ style in which traders try to take advantage of minor price movements. Usually, they hold positions for ultra-short periods (from a few seconds to minutes) and may place many trades during a day.

As per general market understanding, some of the popular and best scalping strategies for beginners are:

  • Moving Average Crossover: Uses two moving averages, with a “crossover” between them as a potential signal for a short-term trade.
  • Support and Resistance Scalping: Traders may buy near support (when the price shows signs of “holding the level”) or sell near resistance (when the price shows signs of “rejection”).
  • Breakout Scalping: Enters a trade when the price moves beyond a defined support, resistance, or trading range and shows sufficient momentum.
  • Trend-Following Scalping: Takes short-term positions in the direction of an established price trend.
  • Price Action Scalping: Uses recent price patterns, candlesticks, and market structure to identify potential short-term trade setups.
