What is Bank Nifty Options Trading?

Learn more about important trading and financial terms here. Need more help? Our team is ready.

In Bank Nifty options trading, you buy or sell call (CE) and put (PE) options based on the Nifty Bank index. These index options are traded on NSE and are “European-style” and “cash-settled”. They have monthly contracts and quarterly expiries.

A trader may potentially:

  • “Buy” a Bank Nifty Call when taking a position that benefits from a rise in the index, or
  • “Buy” a Bank Nifty Put when taking a position that benefits from a decline in the index, subject to the option’s strike price, premium, and expiry.

Note: The applicable contract specifications, including expiry dates and lot size, can change. Traders may check the current NSE specifications before trading.
