What is a Forex Market Session?

A forex market session refers to a period when the major financial centres in a particular region are active in the foreign exchange market. The commonly recognised forex sessions and their timings are:

*Apart from the Asian or Tokyo session, these timings can shift by one hour when the relevant markets move between standard time and daylight saving time.

Besides, for the “currency derivatives” segment trading in India, the forex market hours start at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM. In comparison, for trading in “cross-currency pairs” (such as EUR-USD, GBP-USD, USD-JPY), the applicable time is 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM IST.
