What is “2FA” in Trading?

Learn more about important trading and financial terms here. Need more help? Our team is ready.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of security that adds a “second verification” step when accessing a trading account. Instead of relying only on a password, the account may require an additional code. Usually, it is:

  • Generated through an authenticator app

or

  • Sent through another verified method

Consequently, knowing the password alone may not be sufficient to access the account. 2FA security for a trading account can therefore reduce the risk associated with compromised passwords.
