 What is FINNIFTY?

Learn more about important trading and financial terms here. Need more help? Our team is ready.

FINNIFTY, or Nifty Financial Services Index, represents the financial services sector of India. It tracks companies operating as banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, and other financial services businesses. The index is calculated based on the average “free-float” market capitalisation of the companies included in the index.

Several traders use the index to trade futures and options on it, which is known as “FINNIFTY options trading” on NSE. In this trading approach, traders buy or sell call and put option contracts based on the FINNIFTY index. These contracts provide exposure to movements in the Nifty Financial Services Index without requiring direct investment in all its constituent stocks.
