A crypto wallet is a tool used to manage the private keys that provide access to cryptocurrency held on a blockchain. Note that the cryptocurrency itself is not stored inside the wallet. Instead, the wallet stores or manages the credentials used to access the associated blockchain assets.

Generally, there are two broad types of crypto wallets in India:

Hot WalletCold Wallet
It is connected to the internet and generally used through software or mobile applications. It keeps the private keys offline, usually through a dedicated hardware device.

A crypto wallet may give an investor control over their crypto assets, but losing the “private key” or “recovery phrase” can result in loss of access.
