What is a USD/INR Currency Pair?

Learn more about important trading and financial terms here. Need more help? Our team is ready.

USD/INR is a currency pair that represents the exchange rate between the U.S. dollar (USD) and the Indian rupee (INR). In this pair, USD is the base currency, and INR is the quote currency.

For example, suppose the USD/INR exchange rate is ₹83.00. It indicates that 1 U.S. dollar is worth ₹83.

  • Now, if USD/INR rises from ₹83 to ₹84, this is interpreted as a weakening of the rupee against the U.S. dollar.
  • In contrast, if USD/INR falls from ₹83 to ₹82, the rupee has strengthened against the U.S. dollar.
