The options expiry date is the date on which an options contract reaches the end of its validity. After expiry, the contract is settled according to the exchange’s rules, and it can no longer be traded.
For NSE equity index options, the expiry day is currently Tuesday for Nifty 50, Bank Nifty, and other specified index options. If Tuesday is a trading holiday, expiry takes place on the previous trading day. (Source: NSE India)
Note: The exact expiry schedule can vary by contract. Traders may check the applicable NSE contract specifications before trading.
Weekly expiry NSE options are “options contracts” listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). They expire within about one week from their launch or on a designated weekly expiry day. Unlike monthly options, which have a longer time until expiry, weekly options have a shorter lifespan.
