What is F&O Lot Size in NSE?

Learn more about important trading and financial terms here. Need more help? Our team is ready.

F&O lot size in NSE is the fixed number of units of an underlying asset contained in one futures or options contract traded on the NSE. For example,

  • Suppose an F&O contract has a lot size of 50.
  • Now, one contract represents 50 units of the underlying.
  • If a trader purchases one lot, they will gain exposure to 50 units of the underlying assets.

At the same time, if the option premium is ₹100 per unit, the contract’s premium value would be ₹5,000 (₹100 per unit x 50 units), before applicable charges.

Note: Nifty options lot sizes are not the same for every stock or index and can be revised by NSE. The applicable lot size should therefore be checked in NSE’s current contract information before trading.
