Learn more about important trading and financial terms here. Need more help? Our team is ready.

The bid price is the price at which a trader can sell the base currency. In contrast, the ask price is the price at which a trader can buy the base currency. To better understand how to read the bid-ask price in Forex, let’s study an example:

  • Suppose EUR/USD is quoted as: 1.1050/ 1.1052.
  • Now, the Bid = 1.1050. It is the price at which EUR can be sold against USD.
  • Ask = 1.1052. It is the price at which EUR can be bought against USD.
  • The difference is 2 pips, which is the spread.

So, the bid is the “selling price”, while the ask is the “buying price” from the trader’s perspective.
